Information, energy, connections, freedom! That’s what this site and community, BLOOMates.com, is all about. We are curious, kind, soulful, humble, kickass, fearless, and generous women who are leaning into an important phase of our lives.
Today I want to raise my “T” — as the kids are saying these days – that is, my “truth” as I get older is all about maintaining and reconnecting with friends, especially women. Don’t get me wrong, I love my male friends, too! I’m in a high school friends chat group where I’m the only female! When it comes to what we go through physically and mentally, there is nothing girlfriends with whom we can share this time and blossom!
If you’re like me, we BLOOMates are not getting ready for retirement, we're reinvesting -- in learning, personal growth, health and happiness -- and thinking about this important life phase. Together, we BLOOMates can support each other in our newfound freedom and wisdom. We can explore questions like, "How can I be healthier and happier?", "How can I have more meaning in my life?", “How can I join with others like me to get the most of life?”, “If not now, when?" are top of my mind – how about you?

as I see them:
Information: Health and wellbeing information is finally becoming more available –- thank goodness – especially for later life stages! It’s certainly been a gradually addressed topic. But only just in the last year, women have been speaking up and voicing what had never been said before: ‘I matter! My health needs as I age are important! Include women in important health-based research studies! Aging and menopause are not unspeakable topics – they must be addressed!”
And that’s not all we will continue to explore – information about adventuring together, reminiscing, exploring, engaging – and so much more!
Energy: Loved my mom – always will – bless her soul. But she wouldn’t have dared to say “menopause” out loud or in mixed company. That’s so wrong! Not her fault, of course; the world has been a strange and cold place for women’s needs since the beginning of time. That said, the energy we must put into the world now is just the opposite of my mom’s time. There is nothing wrong with talking about menopause and other naturally occurring aging processes for women. I won’t dignify the sentiment that we women only have value for our youth and child-bearing years - so I did not just say that (ha!). This site and community, BLOOMates.com, is dedicated to generating powerful energy! It’s about self-love, first and foremost, because when we invest our energy in love for ourselves, sharing that love with the world becomes a natural expression of that love.
At BLOOMates.com, we will explore sharing that energy with your world, my world, and the whole world will benefit!
Connections: You! You are the reason I wanted to start BLOOMates.com. I want to connect with women experiencing similar life happenings and talk - simple as that. It really is we womens’ superpower. Think about it. Women have the absolute greatest skills for relationship-building. We genuinely and simultaneously embody and yearn for candor, emotional bonding, frankness, sincerity, openness and deep understanding. When we are bold, happy, and honest, we are at our best – BLOOMates.com provides for that point of connection.

Freedom: Among the unique advantages of this stage in life is freedom. Yes, freedom from that bloody monthly visitor definitely – and while you are still possibly married, you may still be raising kids or grandkids, you may still be working that 9 to 5, and another 6-9, but look at what you’ve gained. The wisdom to know yourself – what works, what doesn’t, how you want to spend your time, and the voice to speak for yourself. You’re throwing off the impossible standards or just damn stupid limitations put on you by parents, spouses, bad bosses, or let’s face it, pettiness, jealousy, and competitiveness of others not in your corner.
Or possibly you’re still working on all those things, and that’s okay, too. The freedom to put yourself first. What liberation! This time is a season of blossoming, sprouting, and flowering! If you never had a chance to be your best self, this is definitely the time to start. My dear reader/girlfriend – it’s time to BLOOM! It highlights the exciting phase clarified by the gifts of wisdom, self-determination, and enjoyment.
The trick is to “own” these gifts, you have earned them after all, and with a little help from friends, you deserve to experience a great reward! It’s time to share here at BLOOMates.com – and blossom with bosom besties!
